"The theoretical side of PE GCSE can be brought to life with the use of colourful and engaging resources. GCSE PE certainly fits the bill."

- SecEd

Student Book - Edexcel (Second Edition)

"This is a book that students will enjoy reading and will go back to time and again!

Folens have done their homework here, producing a book that is visually appealing, well laid out and has thorough coverage of the EDEXCEL syllabus.

The technical content is thorough and in student friendly chunks, with numerous charts, diagrams and tables that deliver the content in an interesting and informative way. The illustrations use images of current world class athletes and sports stars, which again makes the book appealling and relevant to today's students.

An excellent book to introduce topics or for revision as there are Key Terms and Summary boxes at the end of every chapter and the book makes very good use of exam style questions to reinforce learning and of course provide that all important practise for the GCSE Exam itself.

If you teach PE using the EDEXCEL syllabus, this book is definitely worth taking a look at."

Teacher Testimonials

As a department we have used Folens publications and resources for some time, finding them to be very suitable to the AQA specification. The latest resources we have used are text books that are now up to date with the new specification and the teacher resource pack to support the delivery of a wide range of topics. We have found these very useful and comprehensive in creating lesson plans, resources and homework that satisfy the changes within the specification.

We have specifically chosen these resources as we feel the quality and content match the needs of our pupils and teaching staff.”

- W Morgan, HoD at The Coseley School

“The GCSE text book covers the syllabus fully & consistently. It is presented colourfully and there are ample opportunities for testing students’ knowledge. I like the teacher guide on CD-ROM format as it can be used easily in a classroom situation with students. Examination style questions are extremely valuable plus the many PowerPoint presentations are a useful tool.”

– Mrs. C Fairclough, HoD at Harton Technology College

“The information is set out in an easy to read format with suitable tasks to complete throughout. A variety of modern diagrams and pictures help to embed the information further and exam questions at the end of each unit are helpful for assessment. The book is an excellent resource for students of all abilities.”

– Mrs. V Knight, HoD at St. Hilda’s C of E School

“As a school we are very happy with the service we receive from Folens. They produce excellent and up to date GCSE PE Textbooks and teaching resources.”

- N Nostinellie, HoD at St. Bartholomew’s School

A first class resource, enabling members of the department to focus efficiently and effectively upon the planning, learning and teaching, assessing and marking processes. Pupils of all abilities are interested and actively engaged by the accessible vibrant easily customised materials.”

- P Chester, HoD at St. Damian’s RC Science College

“As a department, we have only changed over to the Edexcel specification this year, so everything is very new. Currently we are using the Folen's Edexcel GCSE book - we started to use it with our pupils this September in our theory lessons. This is what we think:

1) We like how the book is sectioned into unit 1 (1.1 and 1.2) theory element, then unit 2 (practical element and analysis of performance); 2) Great tasks and active challenges, which engage pupils; 3) Excellent use of diagrams, photographs, graphs and mind-maps; 4) Good summary at end of each topic with key words and exam questions, very useful; 5) The book is very descriptive.”

- T Charles/C Bartley, HoD at Llanishen High School, November 2009

“The students find them engaging, interesting and colourful. For the teachers - we find them easy to use and it is particularly helpful having the exam questions at the end of each unit - we use these for homework. The text has helped us structure our course in accordance with the specification.”

- T Foster, HoD at St. Edward’s School and Examiner for Edexcel, November 2009

“The pupils are enjoying the texts as they are more up to date and the pictures more relevant. They find them easy to follow and as a teacher it is useful to have example exam questions at the end of each unit.”

- R Stickland, HoD at Barnwood Park Arts College, November 2009
