AS Student's Book

"Exceptionally well structured; a tool for creating thinkers rather than 'rote learning' students."

- Karen J Duffy, Senior Lecturer at MMU; ATP committee member.

"It contains all the information needed for the AQA-A specification and is written by credible sources who are well informed due to a wide range of subject knowledge. The way in which the…chapters…have been set out have clearly been given a lot of consideration as they have addressed some of the inadequacies of many previous textbooks...laid out in an aesthetically pleasing way...the clearly laid out 'Key Terms' boxes make some of the seemingly challengeable psychological terminology easily accessible and understandable. Overall, the writing style, layout and content of the book addresses the target audience very well and makes it a worthwhile addition to any psychology student's bookshelf."

- Stacey Wright, BPS Psychology Teaching Review, September 2009

"Excellent balance of content vs. process andgood up to date and interesting studies...…a great alternative to 'core' texts."

- ATP July 2008 Delegate

"I was really impressed with how they have incorporated up to date research into each unit rather than just the old classics, there are lots of activities for independent learning too and it's shiny and pretty!"

- TES Forum, www.tes.co.uk/community, July 2008

AS and A2 Student's Books

"These well structured textbooks have lots of colourful illustrations making them very attractive and appealing. The AQA 'A' text encourages students to think practically, critically and creatively about psychology by placing icons such as jigsaw pieces (practically), protractor (critically) and paint brushes (creatively) in appropriate places. They also use icons of binoculars for look further and a Rubiks cube for problem solving. This will help to stretch and challenge students."

- Deb Gajic, Head of Social Science and Chair of the ATP, May 2008

Teacher Testimonials

"We also very much like the 'Exploring Psychology' series. They have all the attraction and qualities of the Companion series, but give that extra coverage that is required to provide students with the means of making sustained critical commentary in essays. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Folens publications to any Psychology teachers.”

– Mrs. Jacquie Hardy, HoD at St. Aidan’s CE High School

"I use the Folens books as my central resource...The students really like your book as it is colourful and the material is divided into manageable chunks. They like the fact that it draws out key terms and I find the questions, ideas for structuring essay responses and suggested activities useful. Chapter summaries are also useful for review."

– A. White, HoD at The Thomas Hardye School, November 2009
